Obedience is better than sacrifice…and trumps romance, no matter how sweet.
Profound loneliness propels a childless widow west with the idea of choosing an orphan to share her life. On the way, a fellow traveler takes her by surprise. She never dreams, is unprepared, doesn’t need another man, but can’t get him out of her head…or heart. He’s so perfect—every bit the one she’d searched for as a young woman—except his mistrust of God has erected a wall she cannot breach.
Marcus Ford blames God and struggles for peace after losing his wife and baby. Not once has he considered another woman could be the answer, but the widow is like none other he’s ever met. He falls hard, but plans are taking him east. Hope dashed sends two hearts into the pit. If only Ford could forgive God or the widow ease up on her adamant resolve.
Will God’s mercy shine a beacon in the fog of despair and prove sufficient to heal their souls?
At Liberty to Love Texas Romance Book 7 edition by Caryl McAdoo Religion Spirituality eBooks
Book 6 of the Texas Romance series was a little disappointing to me, but Caryl McAdoo has come through for me and other readers with number 7, At Liberty to Love. Rebecca Rusk is a widow now that her late husband went to his final reward, but Rebecca is tired of being lonely. She opts to go to visit her sisters in California and look into adopting a child, or two, to bring back home to Texas. She doesn't have plans to marry again, but when she meets up with Major Marcus Ford on the stagecoach heading to New Orleans, they strike up a conversation about Rebecca's late husband, who Major Ford served with during the Civil War.The chemistry between these two is something to read. A story of love and redemption for all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and I know everyone else will. I would tell more about this book, but I don't want to spoil the fun. Get yourself a copy and Enjoy!

At Liberty to Love Texas Romance Book 7 edition by Caryl McAdoo Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I agree with Ayo Oboro's review that there seemed to be no editor or proof reader involved. ( words left out etc.) There were so many parts of the book where it was hard to figure out who was talking (or worse, thinking). There were too many names and extra stories added in that made me wonder if I'd missed something. I don't enjoy spending time trying to figure out peripheral people and stories. That really slowed the flow of the book down for me. I liked the basic story but grew impatient and almost quit the book several times because of all the disjointed other people and partial stories that I had to struggle through to finish the book. I liked Ayo Oboro's review . It says it all.
I think the best of the first seven books. Funny, warm, and full of delightful childish word warps. Have not read a bad Caryl McAdoo book, but I think this tops the list.
Editors must be from a foreign land to continue to use the word "loose" when it should be "lose." Being born, raised, and lived all my life in Texas, I believe English usage in written form should be correct. Authors are not responsible, but editors are. Watch the syntax.
I had trouble keeping up with names or catching n to some back stories. While the attraction between the two main characters was decisive and refreshing, other elements took away from the enjoyment. Why would she think 2 years a widow is too soon to remarry? The boys prophetic bent was too much, even to someone who believes in God directing people. And Francy was an awful character to do what she did with no remorse. Her eventual apology wasn’t convincing and she didn’t have the maturity to get engaged, and the boy didn’t either. And what was he story with Marcus helping a family along the way?
Rebecca is widowed & childless. She doesn't want to live the rest of her life alone, so she decides that when she visits family, that she will adopt a child. In the beginning of her trip, she meets a dashing former Army officer. He was in the same unit as her father, brother & late husband. The immediately took to one another, but there is no hope for them. For one main reason, he isn't a believer & she believes strongly in not be unequally yolked. This is a good, sweet, clean, Biblically based romance where following God's Word isn't always easy. I enjoyed it thoroughly!
This was a very good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite part was that Rebecca stood by her convictions and said 'no' to the marriage proposal. The least favorite part is when Jethro explains what Marcus has to do to be a believer. Granted, this is fiction and I may be overstepping my place, but I didn't like his explanation; there was no talk of needing forgiveness or admittance of sin. Except for that, it was a great book. Until I read in someone's review, I didn't know this was a series! I think it's a great stand-alone book, but now I'm wanting to read the rest!
More adventure than romance, the book is one man's obsession (in a nice way) to let a woman know he loves her and changed his mind about his job, as he managed to chase her across half a continent... And she STILL won't marry him...
Rebecca is a widow who never had any children, regrettably, with her husband. She is determined to travel west to the orphanage operated by some relatives all the way in San Francisco... and adopt one or two kids. She's going by boat down to Panama canal first. On the way, she met Marcus, someone who served with her relative in the War. And he was completely smitten, but he has a teaching position in a college in the Northeast... As soon as they part, he changed his mind... Rebecca is just right for him... But it was too late to get on the same boat. Marcus ended up chasing her, always just a day or three behind, from the coast of Panama all the way to California... And he finally found her. And while they really do feel a lot. Rebecca refused to marry him as she cannot marry a heathen, and he had abandoned God when his wife and child both died during the war...
Oh, the religious message is heavy, and the darkest hour was basically forced upon them. The ONLY solution is a change of heart. This guy basically cannot make a decision at the right time... always "too late". Argh.
